Good day all,
I have a simple yet probably silly question. I am wanting to buy a Corsa bakkie that's running a dictator 60-2 on a 2.0 8V
1. Question: When will I need to retune?
I Suspect (BUT AM I CORRECT): If I change/disconnect the battery?! If I change the fuel pump or regulator?
2. Question: What will happen if I don't retune and drive the bakkie?
I Suspect (BUT AM I CORRECT): The bakkie will drive but, I might not get the great power output. Possibly drive as a stock standard.

Q1: If it is already tuned then you will only need to retune if you add any further mods to it. Like cam or throttles etc. None of the things you mentioned will require it to be retuned. With the pump and regulator, I would just suggest to replace with direct replacements and you will be fine. Q2: If you don't have a map loaded then the bakkie would not even start.

Ok perfect! Thank you The bakkie is tuned(and very strong). I heard 1 guy running a dictator speaking about retuning after he changed the battery. Another guy retuning after he change the fuel regulator. (there's a gumtree add right now, with a guy claiming the same thing - 20xe motor in a corsa bakkie). Almost as if to suggest that the dictator device has no memory, which I find hard to believe hence this im posting this question/ thread. Lets say I, tune the bakkie, is it proper (decent of me) to request the map settings from the company/guy tuning it.

He laughed at me (which was awesome). He advised me that the once the Dictator is mapped/set for your vehicle it can physically removed and kept in a cupboard - it will never lose its map. He went on to say that other management devices cannot do this, and they try and paint Dictator with the same brush. Only if you purchase a second hand Dictator which has been mapped to a previous vehicle, would you need to retune. Thanks again Supercharged (Myth Buster)!

I never had dictator, but I unplugged mine all the time.

Thanks guys. I no longer fear, stand alone fuel management systems.
Gonna purchase that Bakkie soon.
You guys have been a great help! #Respect

You guys have been a great help! #Respect To add to what DJ7 has said, make sure that you copy the map on ecu as soon as possible. Just in case something goes wrong. It shouldn't, but just to be prepared. Enjoy the bakkie! 8v motors move those light bodies!
