So as you know ive bought an astra f 160ie full house. As with most f series the interior fan resistor gives in,so has mine,i removed it and noticed its very rusted, which and this causes the termals to break off,so I check ok the inside should still be fine, grinded the spots where the termals was and solderd on my own(the yellow spade in the pic),then fitted it and oh hel it worked! If I new it would work I would of took step by step pics, sorry. Saved R575.50

. Rum money.

Recently my fan stopped working between 1 and 3. Only works when it’s on level 4. And it works well but is this a sign that it’s on its last legs.

Lol, Most of the gadgets actually still works in my car except for the AC which never worked since I bought it, and the rear window demister. And the fan only works on level 4. Other than that it seems ok.

Guys essential tools required for us DIY guys:
1. Digital Multimeter ( Dont have to be fancy but Fluke meters real good).
2. Soldering iron (Gas soldering irons handy ) and soldering wire.
3. Handy stuff like wires resistors diodes for when u need it.
Now u can DIY or FIY(Fix it youself ) yourself just like Sterling.

Any idea on what type of size ohm resistors and diodes??
22 Mar 2014, 17:06
Brutjie resistors for LEDS is so 560 ohm - 2k7 ohms .
For other stuff u can get equivalent value resistor of lets say 0.1 ohms to 1 ohm and boost up the wattage to 5 or 10 watt.
Diodes 1n4007 diodes for general work up to 1 amp .For higher amps u can look at 1n5401 series or better.

Wayno I remember when I pull out the fuse for the fan at the fuse box and then I put it back in then the fan would makke the clicking sound. Do you think it would still be the resistor?
23 Mar 2014, 20:08
if it is not working on 4 it is probably the fan motor, accepting the fuse and wiring is ok
