Ok, the following tutorial briefly explains the steps required to remove the standard Opel double-din headunit, and replace it with an aftermarket model on corsa c's.

Here's our starting point

Image

Firstly you need to remove the 4 small grub screws located on the front of the unit in each corner - they are small allen key screws and are easily removed:

Once they are removed you will need to obtain some stereo release keys - due to the distance between the holes standard release keys will not fit. I would recommend either getting 2 sets of keys and bending them into 'L' shapes to remove, or pop to your local Vauxhall garage and get them to remove it (much easier  )

Once you remove the unit you will be left with the mounting cage:

This is screwed to the bulkhead using a screw with a Torx head. Unscrew this, and unclip the ISO block from the left, and aerial connection from the right, then pull the cage out:

You should now be ready to fit the fascia adaptor required to give you a standard single din slot. The fascia adaptor just clips into place - it is quite a tight fit but once it's in place it's good and secure. You can now connect the wiring loom from your new head unit to the Vauxhall loom. When connecting these, remember to either use a wiring adaptor to swap the ignition (red) and permanent (yellow) live, or change these connections on the aftermarket loom - most these days will allow you to do this:

The mounting cage from your new head unit can now be pushed into the fascia adaptor and secured. Then plug the wiring loom and aerial into the back of the head unit, and slowly slide the unit into place:

Sit back, have a play and pat yourself on the back

Now only  nah jokes 8) I got mine removed at Thorp

I still would like to spray the fascia adaptor, aka radio housing what Thorp calls it, the same silver colour as the centre console on the dash

Topic made sticky

It should cost you about R30 - R40 from the agents.

Hey, I've got a different headunit in my car, I have the cassette tape and cd changer combo. I tried removing it myself, but it doesn't have those screws that was mentioned. I do not want to change my headunit just yet, I'm just having a problem with a CD that got stuck in the changer and now the changer is not ejecting.

What to do? :wack:

let us revive an old thread as I am looking to the same thing.. but, only question I have is this, where did you get the harness adapter to convert the factor harness to the aftermarket your head unit uses..? my pioneer head unit i am looking to fit is single block connector, while all the adapters i am finding on the net converts to two block connectors, one for speakers and the other for power it seems..

dankie..

I did not have any such issue when I did changed to my Sony headunit.
I just plugged the ISO connector into the back and Bob is not your uncle.
You might have to get an adaptor maybe or make up your own loom.

i managed to get an adapter from soundmatch that plugs straight into the loom and converts to the pioneer adapter my head unit wants..!!! but then i had to swap the red and yellow cables around, in order for the head unit to preserve its memory between acc off and acc on..

but all is well and working great..!!! now if only i could fit 6x9's in the rear pockets next to the parcel shelf....

You can do so. I fitted my 6x9's in the parc el shelf.
You will have to remove the cover on the back and then you will have access to the old ones.

dont suppose you have pics of how you got them mounted in place of the old ones..? i removed the trim at the back yesterday to see if i can fit them in there and it was tight and couldnt find a suitable way to get them fixed in the trim.. also managed to somehow short out my electrics when putting the trim back.. interior lights dont work no more and the electric windows dont open when i open the door like they used to or they do but then dont close when the door closes..

ai... :Idiot:
