Awe guys!
I have a Corsa C sedan with the standard sound system in there. I want to upgrade, the head unit dont play mp3. So a new head unit with usb will be needed. I dont listen to music very often because i dont smaak to change the cd the whole time.
I'm looking for SQ but i would prefer no subs and amp if possible. What speakers would you guys recomend?
I like the look of Philips head units but I'm not sure how good they are. I don't have a high budget, infact my budget is actually very low. Please Help!!

Hey.
Phil decks are cool, jvc got the reliabilty and even pure audio, cause it has sony insides.
My advice is a run splits infront (jvc) and 220w jvc 6x9 on parcel tray. Then set the fade on the head unit so its 60%rear and 40% front.
Alota guys have brand loyalty, but I fit these daily and the sound is awsome. Pioneer gives alot of issues with feed back.
You also get a LG combo, head unit and mids and 6x9s for cheap at game and hi fi corp. In the end its up 2u.

Whats your budget look like? That will give us an indication of what to recommend. Like Wayno said, some people are brand loyal, like I like Pioneer head units, and in the mid rrange head units, they offer alot of features. The inteferance part wayno said, is also true, but simple to solve. Wire around 1 of the RCA's and then around 1 of the screws on the cage of the deck and that problem is solved. Worked for me and someone else.

There are alot of nice brands for SQ, reference audio, infinity, phillips doesnt make bad speakers either. I know when I spoke to the guys at the soundmatch I always go to, they were doing quite afew installs with phillips speakers.

if you do decide to go splits try cadence at soundmatch. not a well known brand but excellent SQ. and for the same price you can also get vibe splits at soundmatch. and both of these are the same price as the phillips splits

I'm a Kenwood man, all my speakers are Kenwood. They have been in different cars of mine for the past 10 years and have never gave any issues.

JVC - good headunits, our family has had 6 between us, no hassels with any of them. My current USB JVC one is 5 years old ( got one of the first usb models in SA)

Yor shot guys for the info man!

I had a Sony mp3 loader with Sony 180W speakers in the doors about 3-4 years ago in my bakkie i had and I actually didnt think it was too bad and before that I always had Pioneer

I never liked JVC head units(don't know why) but from the feedback I'm getting recently I think I'm gonna get me a JVC USB. I was actually checking out the VIBE and Cadence speakers on the Soundmatch website.

How would this be: A JVC usb head unit with VIBE 6' 80W RMS speakers in front and VIBE 6x9 200W RMS speakers at the back???

No amp. Most amps are for subs only anyways.

The head unit will power everything just fine.

If you don't want to buy an amp you don't have to buy such high Wattage RMS speakers. The head unit you are going to buy will only be pushing up between 17 and 20W RMS per channel. Therefore you can buy "cheaper" ( not quality wise, I mean less power handling = cheaper price) speakers.

Try it without the amp, the 200w and all that is just max power and the speakers can only handle that for a short time anyway.

THe headunit will power the speakers with no amp just fine. Most headunits come with 4 x 45w outputs anyway. If, however, you do decide you want to get an amp, you can get a little 250w amp or something for a couple of hundred bucks just for your 6x9s

Not true bru. Monoblocks are made for subs only, 4 channels in general are either there to run 1 sub off 2 channels bridged and a set of speakers off the other 2 channels. I got my speakers in my car running off a 4 channel, splits in front, co-axials at the back.

Amps are even broken into classes, like class A, class AB, class D.

With your speaker choice, I would recommend a 4 channel amp to run them off, otherwise do what Gouraami says and get lower RMS speakers. :duim:

Thats not 80w and 200w peak power, that is RMS, there is a huge difference. You speaking about peak power now. Thats actually quite high, if you check alot of amps, they pushing out between 60w-120w RMS, and thats like your lower level amps.

like Dean said get the amp.

if you want SQ and buying good quality speakers then get the amp to use them to their full potential.

i promise you will not be disppointed and won't even feel the need for bass after such a setup
