vitesh gave a good review of the jvc vs pioneer HU's. i am a JVC man and love the 5.1 channel
and he is absolutely correct on the wiring thing. wiring can plays a huge roll.

speakers... i think it comes down to what setup you want. Targa and XTC are great for bass. starsound also not bad at all. but when it comes to clarity i think those brands are not the way to go. Vibe, infinity, rockford, Lightning Audio give alot more controlled bass than the cheaper brands. so my personal preference when it comes to sound is some of the pricier bits. clarity is the way to go for me

sony, pioneer and kenwood (popular but pricier names) are also good but i think cost a bit too much for what you get. i would rather go with starsound/targa/xtc then.

DD's are probably the best all round subs IMO. excellent bass and clarity from them. but price is not something i can look at lol.

a little tip when buying rockford... their speakers and amps are exactly the same as lightning audio. so going lightning audio gives you the same quality at a cheaper cost.

in short... first decide on setup you want (clarity vs bass) then decide on your budget.

please note these are my own personal experiences and opinions.
the rockford vs lightning audio is something my bro told me about. he works with those brands on a daily basis

they not out dated. they are flimsy, havent had one my self, but used one or two in my friends cars... wouldnt advise making use of the touch screen much... rather use the remote... every time a press the screen, it kept moving back and felt like it was gonna break

After my Corsa got stolen with the DVD player and screen, I was put off of it. I like the ability to play anything, but don'd like that the face and stuff isnt detachable. Also a Pioneer indash is the same price as a decent mp3 unit. So I rather just got the decent mp3.

Well, here's the thing

I have an Ice power in-dash, costed me R4.5k a few years back
Its quite feature packed

detachable face
sd card slot
usb
touch screen
plays mpeg, avi, vcd, etc etc..

And i angle it right back so it has the airvents as support, so if i have to touch the screen its not filmsy

Im now in two minds as to sell it & go single din pioneer or keep it & just get subs, an amp, etc.

This decision is basically the only thing keeping me from installing the setup i wanna go for. Already have in mind what i need to buy & where, etc.

no parametric man. unless you cant change the settings on your deck.
parametric makes it easy to "untune" the setup. once you have it setup/tuned correctly then you wouldn't want to change it again. only thing that changes from there is your bass which you can just use a bass controller for.

with the parametric however you might think you going to play around but then never ge it back the wqay you initially wanted it. or a laaitie comes and plays with it or sometimes even turn a knob by accident and then things don't ever sound right again lol.

i would also keep the in-dash if it is feature packed and working hundreds.

Did anyone try the Parametric with the USB input for music, my deck is stock , hence my curiosity if the quality is any good and not like those FM transmitter things
