So I am planing to install some sound stuffs to the Calirbra. Amp, 10" sub and split mids.
Now i have install an amp and sub before and did it pretty well ( if I say so myself). But I was thinking is it difficult to do the install of the split mids? I have no idea where to even begin.
So is it something I can do myself or am I better off taking to a sound place to do the install.
* Note the sub and amp install was on a mk1 golf so the panels are pretty easy to remove lol

The only issue you are going to have getting aftermarket thicker wires through to the doors (making it look neat it mean), but this is only if they used the same rubber sleeve they do on the F's
Depending on the depth of the speakers the window can become an issue when rolled down. Mine just just misses

Yo
Basically 5 things to look at which will help u decide if u wanna do it yr self or not lol...
1. Wiring from the deck to an amp and then back to the speakers can get tacky, thats if you're going to power your Speakers with an amp. If your deck has no "low volume" output you will need to purchase a high-low converter (if using amp). check if you have enough cable to route all the way to your boot from the deck .(where the amp would be) . If you not using a AMP, then its pretty straight forward with just replacing the speakers in your doors...
2. Removing door panels can get annoying. you will have to pull your deck out and possibly the floor sill panels to hide your wires to the amp.
3. The size (diameter) of your mids may not be the correct size to fit in your door, unless you have properly researched the size to get. after getting the correct diameter, you must pray that the depth of the speaker does not interfere with your window mechanisms.
4. If you just fitting mids then step 3 was your last of worries,,, lol,,, if you're fitting a split system then you need to locate an appropriate place to keep the cross over network unit. then locate a place for the vocal tweeter and wire it to the cross over unit.
5. After all connections done and tested, you will have to close and seal all opened door and floor sill panels. tuck all excess wiring away, ensure wires are insulated and secure behind deck
then sit back relax and know its done,,,, fo freee! lol

So I will be running it to an amp, I am not sure if the deck has low volume output(will check). The calibra has tweeters in the doors so I want to put the new tweeters in there. (will be putting in split mids) I have checked and the calibra door fits a 6 1/2" mid. BTW you dont perhaps do installs? The speakers look very far from the window on the calibra but i will make sure to check.

i can refer u to my sound guy lol. he will make anything work and is not bad for price

I do/did installs, but i wont lie to ya, its a tacky job, thats y i found this dude, who is ever ready to turn your confusion into a solution
to check if your deck has "low level"/pre amp level output, simply check to see if it has output RCA's at the back.
You will find this easy on after market decks, not much on standard OEM decks.
OEM decks with out RCA outputs will require the converter.

lol, low level is the same as pre amp level.... when using an amplifier, the signal input needs to "unamplified" from the deck already...
Yup, give him a call, he will sort u out, he is situated in parow north. If anyone needs help wit sound installs, boxes etc, yal can go to him

im so gonmna enjoy watching him install . . . . .sit there and go "no no not that way " hahaha like mentioned said - check the diameter of the dr mounter speakers to ensure it clears when the window is rolled down - that will be the problem - rest is abc wiring  just labour
