Hi All,

I have 2 x 12" pioneer subs in a custom box , a targa monoblock running the subs and an audiobank running the mids , and have and extra 2 channels for 6x9 i want to place on the box

I really need to upgrade the wiring and get a stronger altenator or stronger diodes , i asked these guys at cp nel if it was possible . They said it might be bad for the computer box??! :shifty:

Also wat stronger alternator can i use,of what engine , dont know about alternator upgrades at all , i have the 1.4 with no aircon and extras, so im guessing its the 60 amp altenator ..

My lights are dimming at night

Thanks alot

Deep cycle battery with a stronger alternator and thicker cabling should help. The cap won't solve the problem.

bigger battery will always be the answer. Ensure you have more power available than the car's daily requirements.
At the moment your system is drawing most of the power which would have gone to your lights instead... hence the dimming lights. So get enough power to be split between the 2 and you are sorted.

Cap just won't help your situation.
Deep cycle will be a good battery to get, but will still need to be a bigger battery than you currently have or else the same problem will arise.

Thx for the replies ,

i got 130 db in my bakkie this Saturday, with thin wires that i also need to upgrade , so its powerful and it would still draw power from the weak alternator even if i upgraded the battery??

Would the diesel 1.7 or 2.0 8v alt fit ? , it would be stronger than the 1.4? because of extras like aircon

Oh yes and alternator upgrade.
Definitely change wiring as well. Will see if i still have some 0 gauge at my parents. it was on their balcony but they did a clean up recently. Hope they never threw it out lol

Currently i have a moerse battery in the boot of my corsa. I removed the sub and amp, but had no issues on the standard alternator while it was in. Keep in mind that i did not blast the music all the time so i don't think i really put it to the test.

the draad will help it play better, but the battery will still get run down as per normal.
the wiring will help transport the current/supply the current much better than the thinner wiring. However you still have the same size battery which means there is no extra power storage/supply which will still result in the lights dimming.

Maybe speak to wayno on the forum for advice on this?
I think the 2.0 8v alternator might work. I would get confirmation on that though.

Try a bigger battery first though. I currently have a massive battery in my corsa and had to relocate to the boot, i have taken out the system though. Played fine without any upgrade to the alternator... keeping in mind it was only one sub of a 2000w amp.

Hey Vish, from my experience in the mazda and corsa... i would suggest bigger battery.
At the end of the day you need to supply more power than the system is draining. IMO The only way would be increasing battery size and it has worked for me on 2 occasions.

Nope not really,i upgraded some of wires, need to do the big 3 also.

Battery earth
Alternator cabling both + and - to 0 gauge cable
Engine earth

Still have the smaller battery , but dont want to upgrade the battery with the small alternator as i will just put more load on it

As cpnel said , i might fry the ecu if i upgraded the alt, is that possible?
