Promotec is one of the few companies that write their own software and resell directly to end clients in South Africa. Promotec’s sister company in Austria also share the same software revisions as well as knowledge base and this helps achieve some level of economic scale.
All software revisions are backed on a central server as well as locally for future reference.
We do not have software stages. We custom tune each vehicle.
The unfortunate disadvantage of this procedure is a higher price tag. Promotec software does come at a premium and the entire upgrade process takes longer as we read a car, then scrutinize each file individually and compare it with our database for newer versions before modifying and updating the software.
And as you most definitively know, time does indeed translate to more money, but the end result is that you have the best possible result for your vehicle.
If your intention is to get the cheapest software and get the upgrade process done in a few minutes, then Promotec is not the company that will assist with that - we just refuse to do it - there are lots of companies listed at the back of your local motoring magazine that can do that. We’re a niche company that provides premium performance software even for economical improvements with accompanying hardware recommendations and we do take a while to upgrade each vehicle.
While Promotec has been in this world for decades and still is involved with factory and privateer motor racing, we’re not tuning cars to win quarter mile races – we’re tuning cars to win 24 hour races at the Nürburgring, in Spa Francochamps or in Silverstone or do Rallies like the Himalayan Rally India with change of altitude of several thousand meters – this requires a fine balance of performance, economy and reliability. These 3 factors are filtered down to every car we do and is a fine art that only Promotec has experience with.
