so just a random question
I've seen they sell this desktop mini USB fans, basically you connect it to the USB and you have power.
Now I want to run one of these fans, but I only have the power supply. Is there an adaptor of sorts that I could perhaps connect straight to the power cables of the power supply and then plub the fan into it?

Well, if it is a normal ATX connect the green wire to one of the black wires. This will power it on, then just splice the fan wires and connect it the power supply wires. If it is 12V connect a yellow and a Black and If it is a 5V a Red and a Black.

Hi Gouraami
thanks, I actually am intending on bridging the green and black wires but I was afraid of getting the wires all mixed up when splicing them and connecting to the red and black wires
the searches I done show the normal computer fans have three wires, I am assuming one is for the LED and the common earth and then for the fan, if I get mixed up with any of these wires will I blow the fan, I'm not too concerned about the LED light

Depends what type of fan... Usually the third wire is to read the speed of the fan, but as I said it depends what fan you have.
Take a pic of the fan you want to use.
