Ok Howzit okes

I'm new to the forum thing - but looked like a cool place to learn some new things.

I have a 03' Opel Corsa 1.4i. After a year of driving with 155 13inch wheels and bugger all power i got bored.

So this last week i put 15inch from Goodhope Tyres, full exhaust system from powerflow (branch included) and a Simota induction kit. Also having car colour coded as i type this, fitting fog lights and fitting wing.

I have bought a SMT6 piggy back chip that will put on after i put in a 270 duration cam, which i am waiting for from Master Cams( no one else seems to stock).

What i need help with is following: I have a crappy blue instrumentation cluster with no rev counter. I sourced one from a 05' model, its like a grey with a rev counter. Problem is it is electronic and as far as i can tell my existing one isnt. Anyone had any experience with this, i really want to fit it in.

Also anyone have any idea what kind of power i'll be looking at after chip goes in. Zeeline Performance will dyno it for me.

hey howsit

Why not a 272 cam ? I cant help you with the clocks, I would have just put in an aftermarket rev counter.

good luck

Shot for comments

ok so i have now sourced a 272 cam from Goldwagen Bellville and can collect it on way home. Same price but more pull off - shot Mischif, its better than Master Cam cutting a standard 1.4i cam for me.

I was thinking about after market Rev counter, but i really hate the blue!!! Also i want it to look stock and neat...

Ja i'm keen to meet up with some of you guys, get some more ideas. Like maybe a 1.8 transplant???.....

Re: Newbie

Ok so i am starting to worry about the cam. Is a 272 right for the 1.4? Also how difficult is it to install? I wont be doing it myself but a friend of mine is. does it need to be tuned?

Any help would be cool. Normally i just give the car to a mechanic but i would like to get my hands dirty and learn something new.

30min max to install :) .

272 is fine and it will work great on a 1.4 nothing wrong with it .

Well that will suck. I called Mikes Auto Electrical out in retreat, he said they might be able to work something out. Hope so. Otherwise anyone wanna buy a Instrumentation cluster? :)

+1 for the 272 its gna have a nice lumpy idle.

The electronic clocks you have start @ 0km/ph they can work.
Iirc you have to change loom and gbox sensor.

To much effort 4what its worth.
Just get a cluster thats starts at 20km/ph,those are cable driven.

Ie/is/gsi20km will be plug nd play, you mite have to connect the rpm wire but thats easy.
Goodluck guy

RPM WIRE green wire by the coil :) most opels so yaa run that through and rev counter should pop up :duim: ...

Re: Newbie

Huh? Pre 97?

On the corsa if you take it frm the coil u get a low volt reading.
Needs to go to the ecu pin 42 i thnk, will get back on that but yea green wire.

Oh i know when you connect a aftermarket rev counter and to get accurate it comes from that green wire, but thanks buddy didnt know about pin 42,

see informative thread! :duim:

The green wire sits in a 6pin plug next to the computer box, the wire going to the clocks isn't there, you you just connect the green wire from the 6pin connector to the back of the clocks, and it will work.

130i or 130is or 1.6gsi etc clocks will fit in there, then you just add the rpm wire and you done.

Shot for all the help.

I recon i need the Corsa sport or GSI clocks from like a 97 model. Gonna sell the 05 clocks i bought or try swap em.

Bumpers are painted now, just need to fit them back on the car, also got my 272 cam from Master Cams. They said that it will run smooth, not to lumpy. I think tomorrow i will try fit the SMT6 Chip to car and then take it for a dyno on saturday.

I'll post some pics of cam going in later today. Here are some (low quality phone pics) of sprayed bumpers.

Hey Crispy - i want to try get light like you have on your Corsa. I friend told me a way of blacking out the existing lights. It sounds a little crazy tho (something about putting them in the oven!!!) but i he did it to his 98 1.5i Civic and it looks flipping good. Otherwise i was thinking about crystals? What do you guys think?
