Update Was supposed to start the car on Saterday afternoon. Turns out Masterparts supplied the incorrect oil pump (the one with out the tensioner) so everything has been stripped again till there. Waiting for them to recieve stock of the correct one Really hope I can seal the sump corectly as working from underneath is a b!tch bluetooth - no worries, hope you get it welded up

Same thing happened to me buddy. They also at first supplied me with the wrong oil pump but luckily my motor was not fitted yet. I really dont understand how the can supply one with the wrong pump, I mean surely all 20seh motors pump's should be the same.

luckily you noticed in time! looks like the first models out, '87 and '88 came out without the tensioner. I was tempted to simply order a smaller cambelt but decided GM must have added the tensioner for a reason, so round two begins already cut my cambelt cover in places for it to fit the other pump

Rather fit the right pump yes and while you at it, replace your cambelt tensioner with a new one coz mine sounds like a super charger at the moment.

my tensioner and belt has about 18000k's on it, not going to change them yet. I think I know where it is scraping, the tip of the cover looked a little close to the waterpump, but assembled anyway

Just check if the plastic cover fastened to your head with those two star bolts is indeed fastened properly coz mine scraped on that spot the other day.

She now has 45km on the clock, going well. I think I am riding her in a little to hard though... popo were not looking happy on the N1 while I was accelerating and decelerating the whole time. Was smoking a little yesterday with 3km on the clock but after tonights drive not seeing anything in cars headlights so all good so far!
Hydraulic lifters not loving the Sae 40 oil! sounding rough

Hydraulic lifters not loving the Sae 40 oil! sounding rough Glad shes sorted man. As long as you keep her under 5000 revs for the first 400 km's, it should be fine. As for the oil, I know what you mean buddy coz my lifters also didnt like that oil but when you fill it with the right oil afterwards, she will be quiet again.

sorted out the oil leak I had, and can report no oil leaks! (and yes there is oil in the motor ) I have had no issues so far till today, all petrol related. Firstly, need to fill up - the attendent asks me to open the flap, I say it is - he says it aint. Turns out the central locking by the flap has seized from when I filled up last got home and got it open, but need to fix it. Once I filled up later, the guy manages to get 49.7 litres ( R402 ) in the tank, how is this possible? Earlier - want to leave the hospital and the car wants to start and then just swings. I'm swinging and swinging it and eventually start smelling fuel. I think it is flooding so while i'm still swinging thinking why it isn't getting spark... Decide to open the bonnet to see whats happening. Petrol everywhere! even running down the gutter in front of the car. Somehow the fuel line came off the rail easily 4 litres of petrol wasted. Luckily had a screw driver in the car so sorted it out.

Al;so sukkeled me in my m@er last time coz both of those pipes somehow got holes in them. But I am glad that the cabby is sorted now.

had to be towed from just outside Tulbagh earlier Cambelt Broke I really really hope I can get away with just a new belt. Was going 100km/h at around 3000rpm when it broke. I had the radio to loud to hear any metal on metal sounds Can only hope for the best. The motor doesn't even have 7000km on yet since the rebuild
