Ok guys, so as you may or may not know I own a Monza CD 16v, car LOOKS pretty neat but if you really start looking you will find some problems on the car, so now Im faced with this decision to either sell the car OR to start restoring her to her former glory.
Now selling the car would probably be the smart thing to do as Im still young and I dont earn the biggest salalry in the world, and also this is my only car... but as much as I've thought about it I just cant get myself to place that add, I mean do I really want to be that guy that HAD a CD?... I just love this car to much, so I will in time and money permitting be restoring the CD to showroom condition
On the list of things to do so far... -Engine Rebuild (she not going like she should). -Sort fueling, Petrol tank, injectors, fuel lines... -Redo wiring, car seems to have a electrical problem as well, not major but still, I might as well. -Redo the interior, seats, carpets, some items on dash need replacing as well. -take out some small dents and respray the car. -Complete redo of the front suspension, just about every bush / ball joint is fooked. -Clean up engine bay / redo firewall. -Find electric mirrors like it had originally. -Get front bumper with spotlights.
Things I have done so far... -Sourced the original CD rims as the car had k@k rims when i bought it.
Im sure as I start doing these things I will come accross more that needs to be done. In this thread I will put everything I find, tell you what places / people I found helpfull.
Also if you guys have had similar experiences any advice regarding where to go / who to see would be much appreciated, I will also try and put on some pics as things go along so that you guys can see how things are going

Especially if you've not got the money. If you can do most of the work yourself then you only pay for parts, and don't have to waste time waiting on somebody, then I'd say go for it! If you're gonna be paying...then it may be better to sell, while there still is some value. You could probably find a CD later in a better condition with a similar/lower price. I wish I'd done that...but yeah, soon my Astra will be on the road again...then I be selling the Toyopel. Sentimentallity does not add value to your car. Ask anybody with a mildly modified car, body kit, mags and a system ain't gonna increase the value of your car should you wanna sell. Just look at the modified cars for sale...people often state how much they paid for the conversions, but then they're still only getting offers close to the value of the original vehicle.

I understand this yes, and believe me when I say that you wont get a CD that looks half decent for the price I paid for mine, I actually got it cheap cheap. I will be doing most of the work, (not the engine rebuild though) myself so I will save some money there, and its not that I have no money, I could go buy a 2nd hand 05 Astra GSi if I really wanted to and I would be able to afford it... but instead of spending that money on a new car every month Im rather going to spend it on restoring a legend And im not restoring it to sell, Im restoring it to keep

nice little project you starting , all the best for you and the car , you wont have much trouble trust me , just use the money wisely , and if you need any asistance in getting panels or the car sprayed , just hola at me i can give you prices that you cant get anywhere els , as to parts if you want any parts from a part shop , i can go intruduce you to some people , i ive been dealing with for 8 years wich now are personel friends of mine , which you then can also walk that path anyway , hoping the best for you as i have done a few cars , and its not dificult just time consuming and use the money wisely

Guys with xe's it might be worth checking your octane plug, mine has been on the wrong setting all this time...
After switching to correct setting I seem to have lost some power (3kw and 6nm) according to dyno day results, BUT the car is much smoother and fuel economy seems to have improved, I also dont think that you will loose power, as I understand the plug changes ignition timing on your map, so cam timing obviously wont be the same for both "settings", so im sure that with another dyno the lost power will be made up again, but im not going to pay that much for 3kw lol.

Howsit guys, havent been spending money on the car had some shyte going on, however ive now started to get the ball rolling, sourced a set of M3 injectors and took them in today to Links Motorsport to have them tested and cleaned. Walbro fuel pump i will get as soon as i have time to phone the guy and if he has stock, should be in this week still. Then I want to have the car chipped next week after payday. Ive also decided to not fix my two front seats as the quotes ive gotten are just crazy, so rather im going for a set of black reclineable leather bucket seats so that it fits in with the rest of the interior. I have also changed from the Brospeed 4 into 1 branch to a TNT 4 into 2 into 1. Will take pics of all the goodies and post when i get it back and i find my freakin data cable lol
