Post subject:  The 200TS Chronicles

So I bought a 200TS Kadett a few months back but was told that the engine was overhauled but lifters was noisy and there needed some tlc but didnt expect it so soon.
Didnt expect it to be that bad.
Okay so stuff that came out with time when we reached Upington from Joburg the cars started smoking started smoking heavily and had a click sound when accelirating suddenly we would hear a click sound so I maybe thought its balljoints and qas leaking alot of oil but okay down to business.
Expected to be the turbo that was finished but when turbo was taken of and it looks like the breather pipe that os throwing oil in the turbo.
Brother took off the top as wee wanted to put on the coscast top on saw something is wrong on the block/pistons so my brother took it in to the engineers so could see that block was recenly bored and some of the rims collapsed so we dodge a bullet there as new mahle pistons cost almost the same as forged pistons and I cant afford that now.
So brother got new bearings, piston rings, arp rod bolts. Head's valves was reset and the engineers says it looks like the head was flowed but dont how much truth is in that. Also crank was cut again.
Also that clicking sound was the gearbox coz the diff's gears has broken off and the casing is cracked so he replaced the diff and casing with a F16 that lying at home. Also got a new clutch kit.
Brother is also redoing the wiring as there was alot of loose wiring and replacing cv joint and brake pads.
Also putting in new GM oil pump that I bought from Pantera

I think they where honest its just that the workmanship of the guy that did the overhaul did a bad job. The people that I bought it from are nice people coz they even offer my brother to sleep over coz it was late and the came to his aid again when he was lost in joburg and the immobiliser didnt want to work. I was surprise at that coz usualy when people sell u something they dont care anymore after they got their money.
Whats nice is that Luc/Pantera is very helpfull when my brother needs to know something.

Only thing that we cant find is a C18SEL sump gasket coz Luc recommended that we use that one but when I find one its going one.

Not sure. Sent Luc a few msgs, but not sure if he busy or what, no reply yet. I don't think I am gonna throttle just yet as well. Gonna leave them off. Just wanna get car back and I am gonna need to use it as a daily for a bit, so will store thorttles and pistons so long. Will fit that when I can get me a daily driver.

Sorry to hear Sterling. Some cars can be Lemons and then others aren’t. For me what counts is how the previous owner or owners maintained the car. My kadett has been fine over the last 11 years I have owned it, and it’s still going fine thank goodness. Only thing that bothers me is the radiator fan only comes on after it passes the ¾ mark (in the middle between the ¾ and the red line). It usually went on, on the ¾ mark. That thing makes me nervous, But then again a 200ts compared to a 200is is very very different car, its a high performance machine. Anyway goodluck buddy I hope it gets sorted out.
