My friend did 14.4 second runs on Saturday on Killarney. He has a old spec Nissan STI vvl (vvl branch, 62mm exhaust, branch and management and obviously it was tuned).
And by looking at the list below, he beats all these cars that cost probably twice as much.

BMW 535i (225kW/400Nm) 14.4
Lotus Evora (206kW/350Nm) 14.5
Range Rover V8 (375kW/625Nm) 14.6
Nissan 370Z (245kW/363Nm) 14.6
VW Golf VI GTI (155kW/280Nm) 14.6
Audi A6 3.0T (213kW/420Nm) 14.7
Nissan 370Z Roadster (245kW/363Nm) 14.8

You cant really compare stock cars to modded cars.

True, but I'm comparing Speed vs Price. Just that and nothing else.

That makes no sense... some of those cars don't even fall into performance car category... The A6 and 5 series are mid sized exec sedan.. the Range Rover is an SUV... pretty sure people who buy those dont care about quarter mile times. The Evora is helluva competent around a track... doubt a VVL would even sniff it around killarney...

and if you wanna compare to hot hatches like GTIs, then perhaps you miss that these cars have warranties and service plans, conform to safety and emissions regulations, have far more comfort features...which is why they cost that much

and GTIs with 30k worth of mods will run 12s and even 11s on the quarter mile and still be driven daily

you can strip a mk1 or citigolf and get it to run 11s, but just because it can run those times in no way makes it better than newer cars, or even better value for money...

Dude you are missing the point totally.
If you read what i've said, I didn't mention that the VVL is better than any of the cars listed.
Yes the Evora is a good track car, but am I comparing track cars or quartermile times?
All I was doing was comparing the quartermile times, with cars that cost alot more than these cars and yes please include golf mk1/mk2, opels, toyotas etc.
But yes you right, the BMW, the AUDI and Range Rover should not be included there.

Relax, they're just giving the slow kids a chance to play.

Also, it's nice to know my fidgeting with EcuFlash has made my car quicker than an E63 AMG. Not bad for a small SUV hey?
