Good day lads

So after much deliberation I sold my Kadett. Was a bitter sweet moment but had to move on.
Then the search commenced. Looked at a few XE Astras and even a Calibra or 2... Everything needed quite a bit of attention though (and by that I mean a lot)
Dammit makes me angry when people can't appreciate what they have and just look after it. I was even tempted to go Jap :Japanflag:  ... But then I came to my senses and I saw this car and I knew I had to have it!

Leka mileage, drives as smooth as a Toyota haha. :highfive:

Say hello to Oupa :ecotec: :opellogo: :Germanflag:
Needs a wash and new tekkies

In my opinion, 180iE is better than a 200iE 16v. Great engine the c18sel. Very smooth. Good buy! :ecotec:

Yep I am. Haven't seen the ts on campus yet, only one I see is that maroon one. But I'll look out for you. You have angels in the ts?

Well having owned both in pretty much stock form and in good nick I guess I can be objective in this regard. Lol, in short, yes, the :ecotec: is quicker. It revs much nicer and is a really smooth drive. Top end is leka on the astra too. But my kadett felt quite a bit more urgent in the lower to mid rev range, guess thats down to it being one of the lighter, earlier models and also that short ratio box (en die extra biekie nm's). And also due to the fact that the astra is bone stock and my kadett had branch and exhaust.

:ecotec: wins though! :stirpot:

Gonna make a turn there by you sometime SVT, you know this car.

Nothing major, just breathing mod... Still wondering about the whole hole in the airbox thing vs CAI. Then I have rims, need tyres. Drop. Leathers. Sunroof. Exhaust. HIDs. Off the top of my head thats about it yeah. Oh and OCCT stickers also counts as an aesthetic mod I guess :claugh: Aim is to keep it as neat and close to stock as possible, for as long as I can.

Many happy miles bru. I miss my 180iE lots. Having owned a 180iE and now a 200iSE I can definitely say the Ecotec is quicker from the line and easily on top. Loves to rev compared to the 8v.

Astra 180iE has long legs on top. Will easily outrun any 200iS in the same state of tune. Apart of the XE engined F series models, the 180iE is the next best in a straight line. The guys on the Honda forum knew my Astra well. Topend I killed many a Honda boy.
