So I reckon going to GM for original parts will not be too expensive, well little did I know that I was in for a m#erse surprise. I arrive there and tell them that I need prices for an oil pump, gasket set, head bolts, piston rings and a cam belt. He then prints out the quote and I almost had a heart attack right on the place. They charged me R4896.00 just for those few stuff and it didnt even include the price for new pistons! I could have even bought me another motor and still have some money leaft to fit myself a decent exhaust system. I was so shocked that the only thing I could say was thank you and I then just walked out! I then phoned Goldwagen and they charged me R1900 for everything , can you believe it! I then also phoned Masterparts and they charged me R1731.00 max! All I can say is I have lost my respect for GM, I mean how the hell can they charge me so much just for a few stuff! Please dont let them rip you off guys, rather shop around first. Ive heard that sometimes it is the same brand that GM is selling as goldwagen or any other spare shop, but at a price that is 3 to 4 times more and only packaged in a GM box! So from now on no more GM for me!

I learnt a long time ago that in most cases the agents are the most expensive place....

Thats normal for a first time buyer to run to the agents...My advice is to ONLY buy specialist parts of your engine or the bolts (Conrod, Cylinderhead bolts) from the Agents. Any other generic part, which are usually interchangeable between models (pistons, rings, pumps, bearings etc.) you can buy at spare shops like Masterparts, Goldwagen, Alert, Midas etc. Thats how we learn bru...trial and error.

Ja Ebie now I know yes! Just dont want them to rip my other opel brothers off by charging them triple the price as another spare shop.

Agents is the same everywhere. I wanted a CDI (Ignition module) for my new bike, Yamaha asked r2700. I got it from a bike shop in malmesbury for R300. I never go to agents, except for when they are the only stockists.
