I'm thinking of buying a new car when I've finished paying off the Coupe, so I arrive at dealership X wanting to test drive the new Astra OPC. The salesman informs me they don't like people test driving such a powerful car. I must first apply for financing. I wanted to point out that 200 od kiloWatts isn't really THAT much in the bigger picture, but my mommy told me not to beg people to take my money, so I leave and pull up across the street at the Ford dealership and ask if I can test drive the ST. "Sure, just show us your license and we can go" the salesman tells me. Guess who gets my hard-earned money next time. |

I also rocked up in shorts, shirt and a beard. maybe that's why. Funny thing is they didn't complain about my clothes when I bought the Coupe from them. Another funny thing is that I have a buddy who bought a Harley secondhand for R40k and anytime HE rocks up somewhere everyone always jumps to assist him no matter what he's wearing. |

That salesman was just lazy man, they should let you test any car you want. You had to take it up with the sales manager. |

Blame it on them being prejudice. I would of escalated the matter to make management aware of what their sales people think of their customers. |

Thing is, the same dealership sold me a Coupe with a faulty turbo. They managed to not pick up that the wastegate solenoid wasn't connected. Then when I connected it, it turned out the actuator nuts were in the wrong position, causing overboost (it was fun, but very bad for the engine) which put the car in limp mode. It was easy enough to fix, but who knows whether they were simply incompetent or if they were outright scaley. |

my guess is N1 Shitty too... i got the same k@k treatment. the salesman walked past to a 'better' dressed guy who was just there as a passing passenger, and when he realized IM the potential customer he quickly came over all smiling and what not, i just told him GM has a k@k service and walked off. |

They're all the same. I almost had to BEG Ferndale to sell me a Corsa Lite 8 years ago. Best service I ever got was from the Mitsubishi dealership in Durban Road. Even after I said I'm not at the point where I'm going to buy, I;m just checking my options, the guy still took the time to go for a drive with me in a new Lancer 2.0 (awesome car for its price) and I even got a cappuccino and a piece of biscotti while we talked price and financing. |

The best one i heard was when a friends uncle walked into Aston Martin in the V&A after coming from a jog. The sales person ignored him and acted like a d**s. Told the guy, you just missed out on a sale. A week later he bought a maserati granturismo... |

So anyway, I got a mail from the salesman reminding me to send bank statements, proof of residence, etc, to which I replied "Hi, I decided to go with the Ford Focus ST. The dealer was much more amiable and forthcoming when I requested a test drive PRIOR to applying for finance. Plus the extra two doors do make a bit of longterm sense." |

Went to Milnerton Nissan the on the day before I bought the 530d as they had an E39 525i Touring there. When I arrived, the car was at another branch. They called and the car was Sold. Eventually I bought my car privately (cash) for R10k more than the one at Nissan. The Monday the Touring was advertised fresh on gumtree again... And I wasn't even dressed k@k, I had on jeans, button shirt and shoes. |
