1 March 2015 Sunday

Meet @ 09h30 for 10h00. Engen Winelands 1-stop

Destination #1 | Simonsvlei, Old Paarl Road, R101 | quick coffee & handover of donations (http://www.simonsvlei.co.za/)
Destination #2 | Vredenbosch Restaurant @ Pete's Adventure Farm, R304, Stellenbosch | brunch sit down & social

We decided to help out an animal rescue organisation for this event. These guys do an AWESOME job! They take time from their personal lives & mostly make use of their own finances to help the animals.

I chatted to Len Van Der Walt who is the chairman of the rescue organisation & he is very thrilled to meet us - so much so, that he even organised us to meet at Simonsvlei restaurant to do the hand over & enjoy a refreshing cup of morning coffee before we head off to have a bite at Vredenbosch restaurant!

Well-deserving recipients of this charity event! Let us lend a helping hand by donating stuff like pet food, pet blankets, pet essentials, etc.

Everyone welcome! Bring the kids & families along! ;)

Drakenstein Animal Rescue is registered volunteer Pro-life Animal Rescue Organisation based in Paarl, South Africa. 132-120 NPO

They were established in October 2013 when a group of concerned friends responded to an obvious need for a dedicated organisation to address the issue of animals in distress.

We are small in numbers but have already achieved success with the fostering and rehoming of many dogs.

We are ready to work together with any like minded organisations or people and we have garnered the support of many influencial people and organisations.

We fully understand the enormity of the task but we are motivated by our genuine desire to improve the lives of animals in our community.

At this point our main objective is to encourage people to have their animals sterilised and we are pleased to say that most of the local vets have given us their support and have already sterilised quite a number of animals.

We will act if we are aware of any animal which is in distress (Injured, abused and sick)

Even though they are not halaal, they are willing & able to provide a meal without pork and/or meat products
Just let me know so I can inform them beforehand
Also, there is enough parking & no dirt roads! :D

Oh

Simonsvlei has apparently played host to the MG club, the JAG club, & the BMW Owners club in the past

Here's to hoping we can also put on a good show & turn out in our numbers

Not entirely sure

Will report back after lunch

Yes, low car friendly & non-gravel

Stole a bit of work time & did a drive by this place just now
It's about 50-80m past Koelenhof winery, direction Stellenbosch, on R304
Place will then be situated on your right

Red windmill to the entrance, sign saying Pete's Farm, & palm trees is your marker

^For those that are not joining in on the convoy/coming a bit later

PS. Looks like a very nice place

The place looks nice. The food took 2 hours at our table and we ordered first :Uhmm:

Can't comment on how the food was though.

It was a great turnout though and it was quite fun, bar the getting lost part

I noticed

My bacon, avo, & cheese tramezzini had very little bacon on it. I also didn't taste any avo
Poca ordered a chicken schitznel. It was very salty. I tasted it

The only thing that looked nice was that pont noir burger with caramelised onions. Whimsical & klonkie ordered that. It looked very nice & whimsical said it was very tasty as well

We can all moan to clinton america at the next hookup. That place was his suggestion

:claugh:
