Anybody know someone who offers this? Apparently a permanent fix to the RROD issue?

Easy fix man :) take the cover off get that funny little star screwdriver take the metal case off then take the heatsink off replace the metal washers on the heatsink with rubber ones so it can flex more under heat then buy that heatsink paste from any pc shop put some on the chip and smeer it evenly over the top and put the heatsink back on put the xbox back together power on then power off leave it for an hour then power on again everything will work then my old white xbox died from red ring of death fixed it up then got the newer black 360 gave my old one to my friend and its still running 2 years later :) if u need a better understanding I will post a link to a youtube video that explains it step by step

Its not a permanent fix. I had mine fixed twice and there comes a point where its no longer feasible or when one of the key components have become damaged.
I also bought a newer black one instead.

Azeez if u dont wanna do it yourself, there's a shop in Claremont, just off Main road, which does these repairs.

Shot for the link twitch, heard of that method ya. Problem is, it doesnt seem to work for all of them. I first wanna clean it, then the above method and if that doesnt work I'll have the reballing done. I thought I could do it myself but the solder is way too thin which means I'll need a reballing station. Meh.
I got it for free hence me not wanting to buy a brand new one and why I wont mind paying 1k for reballing. :smile:

Azeez, google the rrod codes, and check which 1 you have. Because if its 1 of the chipsets there is no fix for it as the chipsets are part of the board. This I learnt the hard way.

Removing the weak existing lead -free solder around the CPU and GPU and replacing it with stronger leaded solder...basically

Yes around that price... depends on your Xbox also, cant remember if the older ones were easier or harder to do then the newly released xbox's

So i booked it in, will probably just require reflowing...we'll see. Jacques doesnt do reballing Tauzty, like i said, few places have a station. Cool guy though :winkithumbs:
