Rewind – recreating classic club cultureLike the slogan states, the idea behind Rewind is to recreate classic club culture, specifically designed to take you on a musical journey back in time. Most of you were introduced to the club scene during the 80's & early 90's and Rewind is going to rekindle some of the nostalgia of your best clubbing years.
Rewind is gonna make this a night to remember. When you started learning the ABC of kissing, suffered from TST Fever, learned to drive one, messed with earth, wind & fire until you could feel the spin, finally. We found out that Norman could Cook hot, hot, hot and we had to remember the time for spacious lies. We were Kool & the Gang knew she's fresh, but funk dat Sagat, we had to get busy with Mr. Lee. If only we could find a way of going back to my roots. Rewind is the way and the only way is up.
So dust off your cassettes, pop them into your ghetto blaster and press Rewind. Friday 19 December 2008 is the date, 21:30 is the time and Vertigo in Long Street, Cape Town is the place. Your time travellers on the 1's & 2's are Alton B (norticulture), Brandon Leigh (Heart 104.9 FM), who has also just compiled and mixed the album, Old School Volume 2, released by Heart 104.9 fm, Gerard V (the Groove Collektiv) & a special guest DJ who will only be revealed on the night. There will be free CD giveaways and Brandhouse has come on board with free Foundry premium ciders at the door (please note that quantities will be limited). Furthermore, BOMBA will be dropping a bomb promotion inside.
Be like Madonna and get into the groove and you will be makin' happy in Crystal Waters. You will be missing everything but the girl, Samantha Fox, because naughty girls need love too. Also, you need more Calypso, but we never gonna give you up, because you will never stop me from loving you. Dance tonight like you jackin' the opera house, because it takes no pain in your Lee Marrow to pump up the jam and get Technotronik to ensure the roof is on fire.
The cover charge is also old skool, a mere R30 gets you through the door and Vertigo will be running their regular awesome bar specials throughout the evening. Right of admission is strictly reserved as always to ensure no under 18's are allowed. Thunda.com will also be present so make sure you look good.
Rewind is a time to sing it back, be fascinated & enjoy the good life Inner City, because these are the good times and we got a love for you, so what you gon' do? Rewind aint nothing but a house party, so let the music play, because the time is right for some input to shake that body with strange love together again so we could be together for a while.
