And when Lupi says 'new', he means a different car, that's already fast as standard.

its not special or unique ...to drop that motor into that shape :)

a pristine body , immaculate interior and almost 100% factory original 30 year old car would get more attention. . . .

True true and true.

I can't imagine how much work physically goes into putting a 2L into a Corsa, with gearbox, shafts and hubs, all the fiddly bits and then tuning. Not to mention the cost.

If you add up what you'll be spending in time and money doing a conversion, and then put that against buying a car of the same value, or using your savings for the conversion as a deposit, it might be quite attractive to rather just buy a faster car. 8)

None taken, I do know it's not easy, getting the money back or spending it is not really a concern of mine. Not really a drinking type but I guess you could look at it that way.

Hiiiiii.

Read through this thread and with confidence I can say that I will
NEVER EVER EVER attempt an engine swop, ever.

Do you perhaps know at what Rand value your conversion amounted to?

It almost looks as if it's a lot cheaper and easier/faster to do a small
turbo conversion @0.5 bar and have spare change to do internals if need be.

You must have burned through R40k by now?

Chalk and cheese.

Yes, more cash put in possibly but also a better platform and lots more room for improvement when wanting to mod further. And once you have more power you will want to mod further.

It's around there yes. But the enjoyment I get from it makes it all worth it, because the car I got 6 years ago is now my little beast. And I love it.

But if we're only talking about money here, and not about the love of modifying cars for personal gratification, then yes, it's a wasteful adventure.

DJ is correct. :GoodPost: You can't compare an engine swop to a turbo conversion. They're two different avenues.

That engine of mine is standard inside. The only mods are the throttles, injectors, coilpack and exhaust system. I can still do plenty more should my wallet provide. And then turbo later on if I want to. So I've got more options now than when I had the 1.4 :Obvious:

Power figures are somewhere in the thread. 116kW 196Nm

Pretty sure it's lost some power by now :LaughOUTLoud:
